Moms wear many hats. We wear hard hats, hairnets, nurses’ caps, party hats, thinking caps, baseball caps……and occasionally we get to wear a crown. If you are a working mom, you wear that hat, too. We have so many hats, it’s no wonder our closets are a mess!
We find ourselves in a race helmet, flying through this life, and wondering if we will finish this race strong, or if we will crash. Every once in a while we get to let our hair down and enjoy the ride, but all too often we quickly grab that racing helmet and keep moving.
I am no different from any other mom. I am working, trying to raise three Godly kids, praying to keep my marriage as happy as it was when we married eighteen years ago, and I am constantly changing hats! I am grateful the hats haven’t changed too much in size (like my pants), but I do sometimes need to shrink my BIG HEAD (and big Texas hair) and adjust to a smaller size.
I get lost, make mistakes, feel guilty, and I am selfish. I am selfish because sometimes I just long to wear a dang crown or tiara (for more than ten minutes)……or even have a “THIS IS WHAT MY LIFE HAS COME TO GARAGE SALE” …….and SELL ALL THE HATS!
But, then I am quickly reminded of the privilege it is to live this life, to be a wife and mom, to have a business, and to wear the hats….even if it means me having some bad hair days!
Yours Truly,
Hairnet Heiness
